NEW MAMA ON THE BLOCK: Baby Echevarria Coming January 2021

In the midst of all the craziness and things going on in the world, God brought some light into our lives that we will cherish for the rest of our lives. Baby Echevarria is due for January 17th of 2021! We are ecstatic to have a little one running around and adventuring with us soon!

I shared on my Instagram stories earlier this year that I had stopped taking birth control and I received so many replies for the reason of wanting to get pregnant. Quite the opposite - I did some research and found several articles on BC and found that the birth control that I was taking contained both hormones, a stronger dosage as I previously suffered from irregular periods, horrible cramps and hormonal inbalances. With anyone that takes BC that contains both hormones, there is a greater chance of getting blood clots. Many articles I researched mentioned that women could have died if they did not make it to the hospital in time. Thus, my reason behind leaving the pill.

With this, the conversation between Antonny and I came up to make the decision if we were ready to have kids. I knew I did not want to go back on birth control so we decided if it is in God's will, we will welcome a baby with open arms. Excited with the idea, we had different occasions where I was late and we thought I was pregnant, but my period came at a later date. In these moments we were a bit discouraged, especially after a history of ovarian surgeries and complications, I thought I would never be able to have kids.

I missed my period on its normal timeframe for the month of May, so by the end of May I decided to take a pregnancy test. The word "Pregnant" appeared and had me in complete disbelief after so many times of getting my period late, thinking I was pregnant. We waited until later in the day to take a second one and there was the confirmation. On May 25th, we found out I was pregnant. *insert happy tears*

With every pregnancy story I have ever heard, it is so important to understand that every woman's experience is different.

In the beginning, I had the biggest cravings for anything salty. Antonny knew something was up when I wanted tacos three days in a row, but I didn't find it unusual for me (if you know me, you know my weakness for tacos). It wasn't until half way through my first trimester that I switched and had the biggest sweet tooth! Donuts, cake, candy and all the yummy goodness was great... until I received my blood works results back from my first appointment.

I was diagnosed with iron-deficiency anemia and being pre-diabetic (I will go more into this in my next blog post on "Things I wish I knew before Pregnancy" blog post. My quarantine diet did not do me well and after several anxiety attacks, I got myself together and said "okay, how can I make myself better for myself AND my baby?"  This is when I changed my diet lifestyle and started keto. I have my one or two days a week in which I satisfy certain cravings I may have so that I am still intaking carbohydrates, while keeping a healthy diet. Leafy greens, red and green peppers, cucumbers, cauliflower rice, protein, and any fruit that ends in -berry except cranberries has been my diet as well as keeping myself hydrated with drinking PLENTY of water.

Thankfully, I did not experience any terrible symptoms. No vomitting, no nausea, and no morning sickness. My symptoms included an increase in urination, many many naps (fatigue), tender and itchy breasts, abdominal and back discomfort, round-ligament pain when I sneeze or move my body too fast (a sharp pain or jabbing feeling often felt in the lower belly or groin area on one or both sides), and the worst symptom of them all, my heightened anxiety and depression. I wake up scared of the unknown, not knowing how my baby is doing inside of me, if my body is welcoming the baby okay, where we will be in a couple months, and so many things that really get my mind going. I take it day by day and with God's guidance, I have had my days where I have conquered my both anxiety and depression.

Present day, I am 16 weeks pregnant and ready to hit that halfway mark. We had our gender reveal this past saturday and if you follow me on Instagram, you would have seen that IT'S A BOY! I shared a fun story on my Instagram post on the background on why I prayed for a boy first since I was young. I had no preference being that this pregnancy was unexpected - I only prayed to God for a healthy and happy baby. But God has been listening since I was little and He has blessed us with a little version of Antonny! We are extremely excited to welcome our little one into this world!

We want to take the time to say THANK YOU to everyone who has checked up on us, helped in anyway they can and congratulated us. We are forever blessed to have such a powerful support system on both sides of the family, within our group of friends and the Gabopicasso family we have grown on Instagram. I'm excited to share this journey into motherhood with you all in hopes of learning new things and meeting other mamas!

Stay tuned for more mama blog posts and bump pictures!
