5 Tips to Help Repair Damaged Hair

Your hair can't beat the heat, but it also can't beat the cold either!
We are in the middle of winter and  those windy and cold days can leave your hair feeling dry, brittle and lifeless. For the past three years, I have learned what it takes to help repair my hair so it can last all throughout winter and continue grow healthy and strong!

1. Change your Shampoo and Conditioner

Changing your shampoo and conditioner can replenish your hair and add the moisture that your hair is craving. Currently, I am religiously using the R+Co Television Perfect Hair Shampoo and Conditioner and let me tell you, my hair has NEVER felt as luxurious and smooth until I started using this. Vegetarian, cruelty-free, gluten-free and color-safe, R+Co offers a one of kind hairdressing experience with offering wash kits, dry shampoo's, mousse, cremes and gels, pastes, at-home treatments and of course, travel size products! Switching up your hair routine with R+co and bring your hair back to life this winter!

2. Deep Conditioner Treatments and Replenishing Hair Masks

Whether you prefer to go to a salon and getting this done, you can save so much money by doing an at-home deep conditioning treatment. When I was younger, my mom always taught me how to take care of my hair by using the ORS Olive Oil Replenishing Pack, Palmers Olive Oil or Palmers Coconut Packs. You can get these at your local Walmart and Target stores! After rinsing your shampoo, massage this on your scalp for about 10-15 minutes. Be sure to saturate your roots and tips of your hair. Thoroughly rinse out the deep conditioner with luke warm water and let air dry. I typically do a deep conditioning treatment about two times a month during the winter time and once a month in the summer time.

3. Stop Showering with Hot Water

Showering with hot water is an absolute no-no when it comes to skin and hair. Every wonder why you have dry flaky skin on your face and body or why your hair seems to be super dry and dull with breakage at the tips? For my hot-shower lovers, this is your reason. Showering with hot water every day can dry out and irritate your skin and hair. Hot water also damages the keratin protein cells that form hair follicles and that are at the outermost layer of your skin. Instead, take a luke-warm shower 5-6 days a week and a hot shower 1-2 days a week sporadically. This will allow the hair follicles to be sealed instead of having open pores.

4.

In order to repair and grow your hair, you need to have a proper diet and drinking your recommended ounces of water. If you have diet restrictions or are not consuming enough foods with the sufficient vitamins in your diet, it is important that you take vitamins as they are essential to everyday life and function. A multi-vitamin typically contains vitamins A, E, B12 and B6 while vitamin specific vitamins or consuming food that have vitamins C, D, Iron, Zinc and protein will help with repairing hair follicles. Aside from these vitamins, I also like take Nature's Bounty Hair, Skin and Nails gummies for an extra push of the keratin protein on all three. Again, hair is made of the strong keratin protein and need to be supported in order to support hair growth. Keratin infused products are a must if you want to repair your hair! So many shampoos, conditioners, hair masks and hair serums are infused with this protein to moisturize and revive your hair. A part from vitamins, a consistent and healthy diet is crucial. If all you eat is junk food, fast food and overall poor nutrition habits, you hair will look dull, lifeless and dry! Eating vegetables, healthy fats and fruits can brighten, repair and help with hair growth.

5. Haircut, Reduce Heat and Use the Right Products.
